Brief: To create a handmade record cover. The theme of what we choose to make must relate back to either the lyrics or topic of the album or song. selected.
The problem: I selected the song American Reckoning from the album 20/20 by Bon Jovi. The track directly references the state of the USA under Donald Trump and the George Floyd murder. I knew what I wanted to do but crafting is a little out of my comfort zone.
The outcome: I created a card model of the Whitehouse and cut it out. I then set fire to it and captured this on photos which are visually striking. The symbolism of the fire represents the lyrics from the song which state "Americas on fire, there's protests in the street"
The artwork went on to be awarded Gold in the International Design awards 2022 and a merit in the iJUNGLE awards 2022.
